Snowboard Bindings Buying Guide
Bindings are key to your set up as they are what keeps you attached to the board. As with snowboards there are different characteristics you’ll want to look for depending on what type of riding you like to do. Below is a diagram that lists the major parts of snowboard bindings.
Highbacks provide stability when on your heel edge. Freestyle riders look for softer more flexible highbacks and freeriders prefer a stiffer highback. The straps are what locks your feet into place. The upper strap is referred to as the ankle strap. The lower strap is called the toe strap. Toe straps come in three varieties. A toe cap strap will fit over the toe box of your boot holding the boot down as well as pushing it back into the heelcup. Regular toe straps fit over the top of the foot and a convertible strap can be used either as a cap strap or regular strap. The heelcup is the curved piece that the highback connects to. The baseplate is a disk that has holes for the mounting screws.
